Furniturism: Tably Apartment,

Lin Hu

Furniture as an enhancing and staging element in architectural spaces.

Architectural imagery often encompasses non-architect-designed elements like people, furniture, plants, and automobiles, crucial for shaping how an image is perceived. But furniture, being the agent in program configurations, cannot only confirm spatial functions by specifying the interactions with bodies, it can also conceptually stage potential actions within a given space.

Based on the premise that furniture has the potential to evoke new spatial possibilities beyond the original spatial typologies, this project experiments with a tably apartment in three contexts — interior, architectural, and urban — to challenge the traditional role of furniture and its relationship to architecture.
